Algonquin Provincial Park again is the big restricted polygon — plan hunts on general-use Crown outside the park. White-tailed deer and wild turkey are strong in the Ottawa Valley farm–forest edge. Black bear and moose become more important as you climb into Shield country toward Algonquin and the northern units. Ruffed grouse use cutovers and abandoned bush roads throughout Renfrew County. Always separate provincial Crown from federal and park land on CLUPA before you leave the truck. Deep River and Laurentian Valley hunters use Round Lake as the primary westbound jump-off when Algonquin’s east side is the goal — still staying outside the park. Golden Lake and Eganville loops suit deer and turkey day hunts with shorter walks than the highland moose country. CFB Petawawa’s footprint removes a large north-west block; if a road feels suddenly too maintained and signed federal, you are in the wrong place. Ottawa River marsh sits for waterfowl require federal stamp compliance and attention to municipal discharge rules near town. Winter access on County Road 58 laterals is usually better than October mud seasons, provided you watch for logging trucks.
